Of a once booming 

oil economy

You are an after thought

Of a vibrant energy sector

If you wanted to be more

You should have been

a contractor

You are just an externality

Of a powerful slippery trade

An  aftereffect

Of an excellent discovery

And to enjoy those glory years

thoroughly

You should have been

A multinational company

You are just an externality

A possibility, low  probability

Of William’s wealth dream

A spillover of clever schemes

And to be a better energy clencher

You should have been

A joint venture

You are just an externality

Of oil spillage in T&T

Parliamentary tricks

Management's hicks

Poor labor picks

And if more you hoped to be

You should have been

an employee

You are just an externality

You are no priority

Never was, is or will be

You stakeholder of last resort

Silent public without retort
Accepting what was,is and shall be

You are an energy

externality!
