BACKFLOW

In Federation Day statistics
One from ten left naught
And for Bolivars these days
Regionalism can be
sold and bought
For fifty percent discounts
And thirty days  energy pacts
And twenty-five year loans
On one percent interest back

In Federation Day statistics
One from ten left naught
And for Bolivars these days
Regionalism can be
sold and bought
For built storage tanks
From shore to shore
So twelve from fifteen left three
And  no more

In Federation Day statistics
One from ten left naught
But for Bolivars these days
Regionalism can be
sold and bought
For Petro Caribe allegiance
And market share divergence
To make Trinis distraught

And still  pipelines flow
From South to North
With no fail safety valve
To prevent blowout
When rumored embargoes
Create real doubt
and back flows prepare
for the re-route

In Federation Day statistics
One from ten left naught
But regional mathematics says
Twelve plus three makes fifteen

Prepare for backflow!

WHERE VULTURES REST

The vultures have found a haven
Right here in the caribbean
And for one to two percent tax
They roost and relax

Where flying fish dips
and Mt-Gay rum sips
And withholding tax schemes
flourish

The vultures have found a haven
Right here in the caribbean
Where goods,services
and money, move freely

On account of a regional treaty
And millions of Trinbago oil money
Goes  from subsidiary
to parent oil company

Tax avoidance now, our reality
For the vultures have found a haven
And the only carrion there, is we!

STRIKERS OF THE SOUTHERLIES

We love to strike
against order
against loss
against anything
that is against us

We love to strike
against change
against longterm plans
against progress
against hard times
in this land

We love walk outs
small talk, sit outs
law suits, shut downs
We love to strike
strike,strike
good resources down

We love to strike
Like stick fighters
In the night
Engaging   hype
We give real blows
And crave bragging rights

We love to win rounds
And protests in town
Like standing clowns
Juggling  rods of dishonesty
and integrity
and powers

We love a strike
but we don’t love tears
of unemployment
or deployment
or dissolutions

We only love enjoyment
And to Strike
balls away from
the goal post of strategy

Using trickery and
bribery  to dodge
red cards and stay
in the  refinery

Until we strike out
Our chances of betterment
When the money disappears
And the crowd no longer cheers

And regional counterparts jeer
at our  love of strike
But we don’t love to bleed
The way we bled
When we struck the rock
Like a Boboli

And the black blood
Raced from the veins
of this country
Into the pockets of few
And the hopes of many

We love to strike
Like, little Triniboys
And little Trinigirls
Strikers of the Southerlies
Caribbean

With childish mentalities
We  strike
And hold our ground
in attacks

Making monkey tricks
Ready to strike back

Until our mirror cracks!

OIL TREES

There are oil trees on the oil fields
With branches that span generations
They have hedge like mentalities
That are detrimental to this nation
Oil trees like mangroves
Along the Caroni Swamp
Heart rooted and expansive
They keep good workers out

There are oil trees on the oil fields
Growing in patches all around
Making paper like bamboo to
Cover secrets that are found
Good tree house material
Hosting entire families
There are oil trees on our oil fields
Which sabotage economy

These oil trees are quite clever
And like parasites they feed
On the resources of this nation
With blatant acts, of personal greed
The country’s profit is not their aim
Nepotism and cronyism sprouts
So for the safety of  our oil yields
We must root these oil trees out
