STRIKERS OF THE SOUTHERLIES

We love to strike
against order
against loss
against anything
that is against us

We love to strike
against change
against longterm plans
against progress
against hard times
in this land

We love walk outs
small talk, sit outs
law suits, shut downs
We love to strike
strike,strike
good resources down

We love to strike
Like stick fighters
In the night
Engaging   hype
We give real blows
And crave bragging rights

We love to win rounds
And protests in town
Like standing clowns
Juggling  rods of dishonesty
and integrity
and powers

We love a strike
but we don’t love tears
of unemployment
or deployment
or dissolutions

We only love enjoyment
And to Strike
balls away from
the goal post of strategy

Using trickery and
bribery  to dodge
red cards and stay
in the  refinery

Until we strike out
Our chances of betterment
When the money disappears
And the crowd no longer cheers

And regional counterparts jeer
at our  love of strike
But we don’t love to bleed
The way we bled
When we struck the rock
Like a Boboli

And the black blood
Raced from the veins
of this country
Into the pockets of few
And the hopes of many

We love to strike
Like, little Triniboys
And little Trinigirls
Strikers of the Southerlies
Caribbean

With childish mentalities
We  strike
And hold our ground
in attacks

Making monkey tricks
Ready to strike back

Until our mirror cracks!
