Our multinationals

Must Unfold

Win some bids,

Set up Trin Rigs

Like Shell shells shells

on each continent

Then return home

and reproduce anew

Just like those

Leatherback turtles do

FUELED HOPES

What hope is there
when gas ignites
to awaken our fears
and create new plights
When Economy's Ego
boast of conquest
in markets where Shale
Now drives sure threats?

What hope is there
When oil prices boom
So that Shale fracking
Can resume?
Should, our greatest
market fail
Or be overtaken
By the Source rock Shale

Oh,what hope is there?

MANATEE MOVEMENTS

Across the Orinoco

There is a large grazing field

Along the maritime border

Where a  Manatee of opportunities

Lie quietly beneath the surface

Awaiting the right explorer

But Manatees move slowly

over fresh water beds

at  5 to 8 kilometers per hour

And Manatees of Opportunity

Compadre!

Move even slower

In salt water

Because it takes time to bear a manatee

A whole 12 months ,a year

Then it takes time to wean a manatee

As much as 18 months my dear

So when Manatees of opportunities 

Crawl, we Trinis,must have no fear!

Because it takes time to graze 

a Manatee too

7 hours a day out there

Across the Orinoco

From where  prostitutes

Cross the Serpent’s Mouth

to take coco

And  that social regime

Brings many to Cedros

trading guns 

to drive us loco

The Father of this nation

was skeptical of pacts

Even then, when Free Trade 

was their Spanish tune

And now the Great  Eagle  eyes 

nations which ally 

with the Yuan

So let  this Manatee move

gracefully

Let it  graze till 2020!

FETE AND WONDERS

The fish washed up 
in La Brea today
And sprawled out
On the Sea Shore

The Laughing gulls

Hang out and over

like drunken fish

On the water’s edge

Point Fortin is on 

a  high they say

And might pass out

on this dance floor

But the saga 

Must continue
Because South 

parties are the best!

One party popper

With his fishermen friends

Tried to make a big scene

But he was uninvited

and organizers think

he’s mean

So, let the music play

And what happens
In this fete,

let it stay!

And we’ll pay homage

In the future

For this century, long day

If, we're sober

Upstream

Downstream

but no Midstream

No rivers

No seas

To carry these

dreams

Just streams

which refine

and explore

but nothing more

Upstream

Downstream

And no midstream 

When  oil trickles towards

maximum capacity
And oil settles

below cost margins

Of profitability

And oil creates

Slippery structures

Of instability

Upstream

Downstream

But no midstream

to innovate and
current diversity

To create  unrelated 

subsidiaries

To link new entities

horizontally

or vertically

To Petro dollars

which just survive

But do not thrive
